 about

Tamara Cannon

After growing up in Rhode Island and attending Stanford University in California, I moved to NYC and enjoyed a career as a musical theater performer. But for most of the past 25 years, my husband Jim & I sailed the globe as Cruise and Social Directors aboard luxury ocean liners - producing and performing our shows, “Steppin’ Out!” and “Sentimental Jazz”.  During those years I got to know fine artists throughout the world and the seeds of a dream took hold. Visiting over 100 countries by land and sea, I enjoyed recording my journeys on film and saw my photos published in travel brochures and even a National Geographic calendar.

That passion for beautiful images eventually turned into a 6 year career as an Auctioneer of Fine Art where I was able to present works by Masters of the past such as Picasso, Rembrandt, Miro, Chagall and Dali. Now - with Gallery Piquel - I am realizing the dream of presenting the beautiful and thought-provoking art of an amazing array of New Masters of the 21st century. I am thrilled to offer unique, original works of art with pricing that is fair to the artists as well as their patrons.  Identifying exceptional artists and promoting their work to the world community while partnering with individuals, corporations and charity organizations that share a win/win philosophy and an “abundance mentality” is of the utmost importance to me.  The artist colony of New Hope is the perfect place for this endeavor and I do hope you will join me here soon.

“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
